Mountain Hills Hotel
Mount Lebanon, 1500 m

The brief
A small five-star hotel at 1500 metres in the Lebanese mountains, on a curved lane lined with stone houses, facing west over terraced orchards and a village below.

The move
Three gabled chalet volumes step along the lane, clad in dark cedar with honey glulam frames. Every room is a deep, faceted timber bay aimed west at the valley, so the view is the artwork of the room and no room looks into its neighbour. Guest suites take the upper floors; lounge, restaurant and entry court sit at the ground, with a walled courtyard and a single tree on the quiet side.
